I’m glad they caught it early with me. About ten years ago my eye doctor sent me to a specialist who determined that I had the first stages of macular degeneration — layman’s terms – “Your losing your eyesight.” (Central vision loss). Thankfully, they’re getting on top of it. My mom had the same and caught it so late that she lost her sight.
There’s another disease though, that I am even more concerned about avoiding. Let me say it this way: When Jesus went to his home town, they criticized him and looked down on him. The scriptures say, “He could do no large miracle there, because of their lack of faith.” They had miraculour degeneration. Their skepticism and pessimism and cynicism had chipped away at their spiritual optic nerves to the point where they couldn’t see ‘God in skin’ right in front of them.
“Oh God, help me perceive your miraculous presence all around me and all through my day.”
