Want to know how to make it through ANYTHING without ending up under that thing?

What are your current circumstances?  The word ‘circumstances’ comes from circum (where we get circumference) and stances (stand).  Circumstances are whatever stands around us at the moment.

One way to stay on top of things in every circumstance is to remain in God’s Word in that situation.

The Bible tells about a storm at sea that was about to swallow his twelve disciples and their boat.  Jesus showed up walking on the water.  (Yes, I believe it actually happened).

Peter asked something amazing of Jesus.  “Tell me to come to you.”  Jesus said “Come.”  (One word from Jesus can do amazing things).  Peter got  out of the boat and took one unprecedented  step after another as waves crashed around him.  Then he shifted his focus from his Savior to the storm.  When he did, he failed to remain in that word – that rhema (a specific word of personal direction) – “Come.”

As long as he was coming, he was OK.  When he stopped coming to Jesus he started sinking.

That is what it means to ‘remain in the word.’  One way to be on top of every circumstance is to get a faith word from Jesus and remain in that word.  Maybe a word like this: “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”  (Philippians 4:3)
