Science and Faith

Are science and faith mutually exclusive?

My twelve year old grandson who loves science books was reading Stephen Hawking the other day and came across some recent statements he has made about the ‘fairy tale’ nature of creation accounts.

I sent an email to my daughter and had her check out the ‘Reasons to Believe’ web sight by a scientist named Hugh Ross.

I also mentioned books I’ve enjoyed that deal with science and faith.  Here are a few:  “The Real Face of Atheism” by Ravi Zacharias.  “Genesis and the Big Bang” and “The Science of God” by Gerald Schroeder.  Also, on might check out Philip Johnson on the web.  He is considered to be the father of ID (Intelligent Design).

CS Lewis, who lived several decades ago, deals creatively and intelligently with the relationship between science and faith in several of his books.

Do you have to put your brain in a baggie to believe God started this whole thing?  I don’t think so.

“Science without religion is lame.  Religion without science is blind.”  Who said it?  Albert Einstein
