Fruition

“Fruition.”  Someone said that word the other day and it stuck in my mind sideways. Teachers would say ‘completion.’  Business people would say ‘production.’  Farmers would say ‘fruition.’

I sat with 17 guys yesterday morning and we studied the story of the seeds and the soil in the Bible (Matthew 13).  It was great to hear a dozen different viewpoints on the same story.

What stuck with me is the simple truth that God’s word is like a seed.  It has life in it.  The condition of my heart is what determines whether that seed is embedded in my heart and comes to ‘fruition.’   Every single human has a heart condition.  If my heart is receptive and open, I will bear much eternal fruit (the character of Jesus – His life reproduced in me and others around me).

Thank you God for speaking words to us.  Your words have eternal germs of life in them.  Your words have huge potential in them.  It’s easy to see how many seeds are in an apple, but who knows how many apples are in a seed?
