How about ‘Now’?

‘Now.’  Take ten seconds and just think about that three letter word.

‘Now’ can be a great word if a person is trusting God.  For me, a higher level of trust in God turned ‘worry and anxiety’ into ‘enjoyment and relaxation.’

Here is what I wrote in my journal 27 months ago when God began teaching me how to live in the moment and enjoy the ‘right now:’

“Winning against depression starts with the ‘now’ moment.  That is where healing begins … now.

I have lived in fear of the future for so long.  God is teaching me how to think and speak (and then later to feel) different, starting now.  Start to live in the ‘now.’

For too long I’ve been spending most of my time living in the future (fear of what may happen) or living in the past (“I wish I would have …  If only I had…”).

‘Ken, think and speak right, starting now.  Start now to live in the now.  Start now to milk enjoyment from the current moment.  Savor the present moment.  Learning to live in the now, being free from regret (past) and fear (future) takes time.  It also takes discipline.  The reward of physical discipline is eventually physical health.  The reward of emotional / mental discipline is eventual emotional and mental health.

Emotional health, enjoying the present moment, will take time.  I’ll have some down times.  If I’m batting .001 and my goal is to bat 350, I need to get to .002 first.  I’ll have slumps, but I’ll keep swinging the bat.  I’ll turn ‘fearful’ into ‘grateful.’  I will develop my grateful mental muscle.  I won’t give in.  I won’t give up.’

I don’t want to spend so much time in the ‘some day when’ and the ‘back then’ that I miss the ‘right now.’  Now is where time intersects eternity.”
