I went to the dentist the other day and they took x-rays of my teeth.  Before they did, they put a lead vest over my chest.  I guess overexposure to radiation can somehow make your cells go rogue.

I’m reading this unbelievable book by this guy named John.  His book starts this way:

Before anything else existed,  there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God.  John 1:1, TLB

Yea.  He said this Jesus Christ man (English version) contained such an alive aliveness that His aliveness had always been alive and would always be alive.  That’s pretty amazing because most aliveness that I see is being nibbled at by deadness.

I understand John was closely exposed for three years to this guy named Christ.  He claimed this Jesus gent cast off some kind of positive radiation.  He said the closer you get and the longer you stay close, the more alive you become.  It must have worked for him, because I read that he lived to be about 100.  (Maybe if he’d spent four years with Jesus he’d have made it to 120).

John starts his book off in an audacious way.  “In the beginning.”  He says that when human aliveness, or amoeba aliveness, or animal aliveness began, there was another Aliveness that their aliveness came from.

“In the beginning” made me think of the book of Genesis and I went and checked it out.  Sure enough.  Genesis starts with the same three words.  It says, “In the beginning, God did such and such.”  It starts with a divine doing.  But John starts with a divine being (or Being).  John speaks of Jesus as a being who was being before human beings were being.

I got so attracted to this idea of unstoppable aliveness that I decided I’d read John’s book, one sentence at a time, hoping to get blissfully exposed to the same Aliveness he experienced.  Wanta’ join me?
