Are you contagious?

These thoughts came to me out of Steve Mickel’s great message last weekend at Westside Church – Bright Future!!

There is a strong connection between being fully alive and being enthusiastic.  The word ‘enthusiasm comes from the Latin words “En” (in) and “Theos” (God).  God contains within Himself billions of lifetime supplies of enthusiasm.

God releases fresh enthusiasm to those who align with His purpose for their lives.  When you are living your God-given life mission – your life purpose – in cooperation with others – you become enthusiastic about it.

God breathes fresh enthusiasm into all  who are receptive.  Then they can breathe enthusiasm into others, like Joshua did in the Bible.  The people responded to Joshua’s enthusiasm with their own fresh excitement:  “We will do whatever you command us, and we will gowherever you send us. We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses. (Joshua 1:6-10, 16, 17 NLT)

Enthusiasm is contagious.   Enthusiastic people catalyze enthusiasm in others.  A church, a genuine community of Christ-followers, should be crackling with enthusiasm!  People who are moving toward their God-given destiny, their full aliveness, their almost unlimited potential,  are fully alive and fully awake to the possibilities and potential in themselves and in the people around them.

How about it.  Are you contagious with enthusiasm right now?
